My greatest discovery in life has been finding that our intrinsic selves are more natural than we can imagine. We are but a breath away from being wild creatures, and are full heirs to the beauty, peace, excitement, and raw awareness that we sense in the natural world.

My hope is that through my writing, I can initiate a new relationship between humans and nature.  I encounter nature not through the eyes of a scientist, but as an everyday human who is filled with curiosity and a sense of adventure.  When I encounter other animals in the woods the reputation of my species precedes me, and there are barriers to overcome if I wish to enter more fully into the natural world.  If I can surpass these barriers, perhaps it will inspire a new way of living on this planet.  At the very least, it will give us insight into the nature of our relationship with the wild.

My writing is a tracing out of my discoveries, as they have unfolded and continue to unfold in my own life. Recently I have been venturing out into the lands surrounding Sweetwater Vale in order to connect with one of the native species of the area – the wild turkey. My quest has been to chase and catch a turkey by hand. (The turkey gets to go free afterwards, of course.)  My upcoming book will tell the whole story -- a real-life tale of hilarity and adventure.  I'll keep publishing updates posted here!

I also write a nature column for the Dunn County News, and am currently co-authoring a book with photographer and author Charles Campbell.

I invite you to read our weekly adventure journal-- a nutshell of our day-to-day adventures, complimented by Rebecca’s photos.
