June 21st, 2010    Remembering Winter

The berries are ripening on the vine, dragonflies darting about, fireflies lighting the night and flitter-mice moving through the dusk air hunting bugs. Yesterday Rebecca remarked that it was one of those days where you could walk around naked and be perfectly comfortable, which is an interesting reminder that here in Wisconsin we get to experience both near-tropical and near-arctic weather.

We were reminded of last winter, trying to walk down our road, bundled up in layers of clothing and still wincing as we turned back into the icy wind. How strange that it can be cold enough that your breath chokes in your throat, and a few months later it can feel too hot to go outside.

This is one of the joys of life in Wisconsin, and we took a moment to look back through some pictures from last winter. Here's just one, to remind us of how marvelously diverse life can be.
