November 16th, 2009 Dancing For Women Last weekend three dancers, representing Rebecca's Sahaja Gypsy Tribe, gathered together to travel to across the state. We not only were excited to see many of our belly dancing friends, but to have the opportunity to dance for a cause. This event, hosted by the belly dance troupe Shuvani, is actually a fundraiser to benefit the family crisis center. It's such a joy to dance when you know you're making a difference!
Sahaja was amazing, as always. Since they were dancing to recorded music, I wasn't needed on the drums, and was able to sit and watch their performance. I don't often get to do this, and their dancing was mesmerizing. That night we went back to stay with our friends Chris and Heather, where the party soon devolved into a mean game of spoons. I had never played before -- it's a card game that demands attention and quick reflexes. Surrounded by laughter, we dealt cards and grabbed for spoons, with Jen taking the trophy for the most wins. Now we're home, picking up horse poop and back on our computers as we try to build our business. We just launched our new website last week, and have been getting some great responses. Probably the most exciting thing that happened to us is that our friend Sy, who is an incredible nature author, told us that her photographer wasn't able to come along on her latest expedition, which was to be in Zambia studying Nile crocodiles. The expedition didn't end up happening, but she told us that she had thought of US as replacement photographers! Can you believe it??? Wow. We're so lucky to have so many thoughtful and inspiring friends!
