Wolves and Literary Agents The cute and curious 'Gray Jay'. This
week was a very good week. We signed on with our dream agent for Kenton's
upcoming book. It's the hilarious true story of his experiences
during a year of trying to catch a wild turkey with nothing but his bare
hands. A 'chimney' log provides fireworks. ![]() Then we went up north with Rebecca’s mother and her boyfriend. Her boyfriend has a cabin that he hand-built on the shores of a lonely lake, and we spent the weekend wandering the endless logging roads, meandering through the forests, and canoeing over the clear waters. We beheld many wonders, from the brilliant stars to the haunting cries of the loon to the camaraderie of sitting around a campfire with no other humans anywhere nearby. It was a weekend punctuated by agate collecting (Rebecca found one larger than her fist), marshmallow-roasting, and endless excitement as Rebecca and I discussed what the future might hold now that we have a world-class agent. On the way home, we stopped at the International Wolf Center. They're a powerful force for educating the public about the place wolves hold in our ecosystem, and we had a chance to watch the Ambassador Pack at close-range. It was marvelous to be so close to these predators. (Check out what they're up to right at this moment by visiting their wolf cams!) For the New Year's toast this year that we shared with some friends, Rebecca said: "To 2009, the year all of our dreams come true." For us, it really seems to be happening. Our greatest hope is that it happens for you as well.
