Readying Lillian In the depths of our computers lie tens of stories and tales, many only partially told, but others nearly or fully complete. One of these is Lillian, a fantasy tale of a young noblewoman who comes of age in a time of great political unrest. This is an epic, really, three books long, and it's been sitting quietly dormant in our computer for the past four or five years. An old map of Carador, Lillian's home. ![]() Four or five years takes us back to life before the Wisconsin Renaissance Faire, when we were strongly focused on our writing. We sent Lillian out to a number of agents, got some good bites, and then the faire came into our lives and we tucked Lillian away. Often, since then, we've wondered what might have happened if we had continued our agent-search just a little longer, and last week, after my mother urged us to send Lillian out again, we decided to do a final read-through (since it has, after all, been a rather long time) and start searching for an agent. While Run Turkey Run is finding its home under the competent care of our non-fiction agent, we'll soon be starting to find a fiction agent to represent Lillian. We've set a goal to edit through three chapters a day, and thus far we've met our goal, making a few changes here and there and re-acquainting ourselves with the story. At this pace, we should be done in about fifteen days, and will begin to send Lillian out in search of a home. We're not the only ones with dreams hidden away in near-forgotten places. For us, it's been amazingly exciting to bring this book out and start to get serious about finding a publisher for it. What dreams do you have, just waiting to be brought out, revived, or explored? Whatever they are, they must surely be amazing, and it's our hope that you follow their trails to whatever adventures they bring you.
