Muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus) Skull

These are very handsome skulls with big yellow incisors.  Below is a full view of the specimen, found in a pine plantation near a river. 

 

 

                          
You can find living muskrats if you search along river-banks or backwaters.  They are quite common, and if you're patient (they can stay under water for ten minutes or more), you can often get quite close, since they're not very shy.  Happy muskrat-searching!
